Imagine a program that is able to apply to businesses large and small that leads them through a strategic path of environmental improvement.  Each step of progress has a point value that is the same for every other business in the system.  In so doing, every business can measure its progress in the community and across the nation.

The Green Business League formulated such a plan allowing companies to freely participate without cost or fee.  Only when an audit or consultation was required was a fee applied.  In other words, our point system called for in-house participation to show progress, but that was not the only measure.  To verify the fairness and compliance fo the company, an audit is always required to verify the program.

Any company may obtain a copy of our points system without charge.  This will guide them in a variety of steps that can lead to certification.  Making this report "Free of Charge" makes the process transparent and universally applied.  And, frankly, any company can participate to its best level of achievement.

If this system can be criticized for anything, it should be that we have broken down the barriers for businesses that had no other recourse than greenwashing their program through non-credible online "Pay to Play" programs.
